Children's Ministry Description

Download Children's Ministry Description

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

The Children’s Ministry goal is to equip and prayerfully support each child so that they might realize Christ’s perfect plan for their life, and take an active part in sharing their faith with others, as we follow the instructions of our Lord to His disciples, to “go to all nations and make disciples.”

All ministry workers must complete a ministry application, and background check, and be approved by the pastor prior to working in the children’s/youth ministry. Regular church service is encouraged and required.

This Ministry includes the weekly Sunday School Classes as well as the Nursery. The age groups are 0-3, 2’s & 3’s, 4-6, 7-10 and then 5th and 6th grade. All other ages join their families in the Sanctuary on Sunday. The youth group is for 13 years old and up, and meets on Thursday nights at 7pm. We also offer child care for all other ages on Thursday nights as well.

The Nursery has specific written policies which are provided to parents, as well as information to volunteers regarding diapering, changing & escorting children to bathrooms. There are also written handouts for the volunteers of the other age groups regarding discipline, how to keep a child’s attention, rewards and consequences, as well as websites to find fun activities and ideas. Each teacher will receive a workbook with curriculum that is fun and easy to use, or they can also use their own teaching techniques and style. Lessons can be as simple or as in depth as a teacher wants to make them. There is a resource room available for craft supplies, and snacks are provided for the children. There are security rules set in place, and each teacher has a walkie-talkie to communicate needs to an usher if necessary.

Nursery/Children’s volunteers are needed for Thursday evening service at 7pm, and Sunday morning service at 10am. We encourage volunteers to commit to serve at least once a month. Schedules are posted every two months so workers know their day of service. All workers are asked to arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to classes, and remain in the classroom until the last child is picked up.
